Moving from Adobe Acrobat shared review to zipBoard: what maps to what

Teams that have run PDF reviews in Adobe Acrobat (shared review, or a self-hosted collaborative review server) usually ask the same questions when they switch: where do reviewers comment, how do I see who has commented, how do I set a deadline, and how do I get the comments out at the end? This table maps each Acrobat review task to where it lives in zipBoard.

In Acrobat you… In zipBoard you…
Send a PDF for shared review Upload the PDF (or add it by URL) and add reviewers, or send a share link. See PDF & drawing review guide.
Invite reviewers by email Add them as Reviewers (they get an email and it shows in their Needs my review), or share one link with many people. See Mandatory reviewers and Share link settings.
Set a review deadline Set a due date on the file. See Due dates.
Track who has commented Check reviewer progress on the file card. See Track reviewer progress.
Reply to comments Reply in the comment thread. Comments can also become tasks with an assignee and status.
End the review Reviewers mark Approved, Changes Requested, Feedback Given or Review Complete. See Complete your review.
Start a new review round on a revised PDF Upload it as a new version of the same file, keeping previous comments. See Version control and Compare PDF versions.
Summarize or export comments Download the annotated PDF or export comments to CSV. See Annotated PDF and CSV export.

Do reviewers need Acrobat or a zipBoard account?

No Acrobat or plugin is needed: reviews happen in the browser. Guests can comment on PDFs through a share link without signing up, or you can require sign-in. See Review a PDF via a share link.

We review long technical PDFs with many reviewers
