What Do the Due Date Colors Mean in zipBoard Assets?

zipBoard uses color-coded date indicators to help you quickly track asset overdue deadlines, manage pending approvals, and stay on top of your schedule. These color indicators appear directly on the due date text (accompanied by a calendar icon) in the Assets list across both the All Assets and My Work tabs.

What Each Color Means?

Red

Red means that the asset's due date has passed and the asset's status is not approved. This indicates that immediate action is required to review and finalize the item (learn how to notify team members here).

Amber

The asset is due within the next 7 days. Even if an asset is already approved, it will still display in amber if its due date falls inside this 7-day window, giving your team a week-long heads-up.

Grey

The asset is more than 7 days away from its due date, or it has passed its due date but is already fully approved. No urgent action is needed.

No Color Indicator

If an asset has no due date assigned, or if it has been archived, it will display a standard dash instead of a colored due date indicator.

How to Set a Due Date

If an asset is showing no color indicator because it lacks a schedule, you can easily assign a deadline. To set or modify a due date on an asset, navigate to the asset card settings and update the deadline field. For more details, find how to set a due date here.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is an asset still showing up as red or amber despite being reviewed?

A review from an individual reviewer does not automatically change the asset's color. An asset only turns grey when it is approved at the entire asset level, not just through individual reviewer statuses. Even if you have submitted your review, the asset will remain red or amber based on its due date until the overall asset approval is completed.

Why is an overdue asset showing up as grey instead of red?

Past-due assets turn grey once they are fully approved at the asset level. Overall asset approval takes priority over the deadline status.

Do all assets display a color indicator?

No. Assets that do not have a due date set, or are currently archived, will display a dash (—) rather than a color indicator.

How far in advance do assets turn amber?

Assets automatically turn amber when their due date is within the next 7 days, giving your team a week-long warning to complete reviews.

Does uploading a new version change the color?

Yes. Uploading a new version resets reviewer statuses, meaning an approved (grey) asset may turn red or amber again depending on its active due date.
