Project Boards in zipBoard: Complete Guide

A project board in zipBoard is a stage of work in a project, such as "design" or "development", that groups the related files, tasks and comments. This guide covers what boards are, who can create them, how to add files and tasks to a board, and how board status and completion dates work.

What is a project board?

A project board defines the stage the work is currently in, for example "ideation", "design" or "development". You can also use boards for the stages of tasks, such as "to-do", "currently doing" and "pending review".

You can see all the boards in your project on the Kanban board. See What Is a Kanban Board and How Do I Use It?

Who can create a project board?

Only project owners can create a project board. Reviewers and guest collaborators can't create or edit project boards.

How do I create a project board?

Click Add Board on the Boards tab, then name the board.

  1. Open the Boards tab in your project.
  2. Click Add Board.
  3. Enter a name. You can also add a description and an estimated completion date; both are optional.

How many project boards can I create?

There is no limit. You can create as many project boards in a project as you need.

Project boards are available on Enterprise and custom plans.

How do I add files, tasks and comments to a project board?

Add new items directly from the board, or move existing files and tasks to a board by editing them.

Add new files, tasks and comments to a board

Select the project board, then click the Add button for a file, task or comment.

Move an existing file or task to a board

For a file:

  1. Select the file.
  2. Click the Edit icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select the board from the dropdown and click Save File.

For a task:

  1. Click the Edit icon on the task.
  2. Click Select next to Change Board and choose the board.

What is a project board status?

Board status shows where a board stands: Not started (the default for new boards), Active, Completed or On Hold. It appears in the upper right corner of the board.

  1. Click the Edit (pencil) icon to the right of the board name.
  2. Choose a status.

What is the completion date on a project board?

The completion date is an estimated date for when the board's work should be finished. It appears in the upper left corner of the board and is empty unless you set it when you create the board.

To add or change it later, click the Edit icon to the right of the board name.
