Notifications and Email Alerts in zipBoard

zipBoard notifications reach you two ways: email alerts for tasks you're assigned to, created or watch, and in-app notifications under the bell icon. You can change how often emails arrive (instantly, daily, weekly or monthly) from your profile, and fix missing emails by checking spam and your email preferences.

What email notifications does zipBoard send?

By default, every account gets an email when you're assigned a task, when a task you created is updated, and when a task you watch changes. Project owners and managers also get an email every time a new task or feedback is created in their project.

Will collaborators get an email when they're assigned to a task or project?

Yes. Collaborators get an email when:

They are added to a project.
A task is assigned to them.
They are added to a task as a watcher.

Will I get an email when someone replies to my feedback?

Yes, as long as the correct email address is on your account. The project owner also gets an email. Guest reviewers only get reply emails if they entered their email address in the optional field; see Managing Guest Reviewer Notifications and Access.

How do I change how often I get email notifications?

Set your email preference in your profile to instant, daily, weekly or monthly updates.

Open the profile dropdown and select Edit Profile.
Choose a frequency from the email preferences dropdown. Select Send Instantly to get every alert as it happens.
Click Save.

How do I see notifications inside zipBoard?

Click the notification (bell) icon in the top right corner after you log in. Owners, managers, collaborators and watchers all see their notifications there.

What is the bell icon on my profile?

The bell shows your personal notifications, for example when someone adds you to a project or mentions you with @.

How is the New Updates button different from email notifications?

The New Updates button appears while you have a file open and lets you pull in other reviewers' changes when you're ready. Email notifications are sent automatically, whether or not you're online. See How does the New Updates button differ from the zipBoard email notification?

How do I send an email to collaborators from zipBoard?

Use the Email link in the Collaborators tab to write to all or selected collaborators.

Log in to zipBoard.
Click the Collaborators tab on the dashboard.
Click the Email link.
In the Email Collaborators window, add a subject and message, then click Send.

The email is sent to all or the selected collaborators.

How do I communicate with my team in zipBoard?

You can keep your team in sync with comments, @mentions, task comments, collaborator emails and project messages, depending on who needs to see the message.

Message everyone on the project: add it as a comment.
Notify a specific person: mention them with @Collaborator Name, or email them with the Email Collaborators option (see How do I send an email to collaborators from zipBoard?).
Discuss something while reviewing: create a comment or task on the review board and @mention anyone who should join in.

Why am I not receiving zipBoard emails?

Usually your mail server is bouncing or filtering zipBoard emails, or your email preference isn't set to send instantly.

Check your spam folder.
Ask your IT department to whitelist emails from zipBoard.
Open the profile dropdown, select Edit Profile, set email preferences to Send Instantly and click Save.
