What is a project phase?

A project phase lets you create a sub-division within your project to manage stages or milestones. You can use it to separate checkpoints in the project life cycle and control the flow of your process.

For example, you can create phases for your planning and initiation phase, one for your research phase, another for execution, and so on.

Phases are completely optional to use and can be named however you see fit.
